The Feast of Divine Mercy is also known as Divine Mercy Sunday. We celebrate this feast on the Second Sunday of Easter.
The Feast of Divine Mercy was mentioned in the Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska, 420. According to her entry dated 28 April1935, she took part in the celebration and towards the end of the service, when the priest took the Blessed Sacrament to bless the people, she saw the Lord Jesus as He is represented in the image. The Lord gave his blessing, and the rays extended over the whole world. Then she heard a voice saying,

“This Feast emerged from the very depths of My mercy, and it is confirmed in the vast depths of My tender mercies. Every soul believing and trusting in My mercy will obtain it.”
Saint Faustina was beatified on 18 April 1993 and canonized by Pope John Paul II on 30 April 2000. During this ceremony, the Pope declared in his homily, "It is important then that we accept the whole message that comes to us from the word of God on this Second Sunday of Easter, which from now on throughout the Church will be called "Divine Mercy Sunday".
