Blessings For A Fresh New Year

There is something special about welcoming a new year no matter how good the year before had been. When the past year had been ravaged by a global pandemic, we have the poignant desire to quickly hop into the new year as though turning a new calendar page will wipe away all our problems. Life unfortunately, is not that simple. Still, a new year affords a fresh start and a hope for better things to come.

Prayers and reflections for this year were a little different. In previous years, I usually focused on family, friends and the nation. Humanity however, has a common enemy today. It is Covid-19, a disease that is not prejudiced against race, nationality, age, gender or religion. Anyone any where in the world can fall prey to this disease. My humble prayer sure cannot encompass the entire globe. But I can pray one of my favourite blessings from the bible.
